Paloma New Zealand Barrel-Aged Barleywine is a rich, smooth, nutty, strong ale that has been aged for ten months in French oak wine barrels that previously held New Zealand Whisky Co's Double-Wood Whisky for many years. Like all our beers, it is made with New Zealand-grown malt and hops. 14.3% ABV.
Packaged 2017. Best before 2025.
There was a very limited number of New Zealand Whiskey Co. barrels and Kereru can soak the whiskey out of a barrel into a beer only once. (After that first use, the barrel may offer oak flavour, but the whiskey flavour is gone.) We produced a scant 1500 bottles of this very rare beer for this initial release, but bit more will be coming in 2018.
