Varietal: Nero D'Avola
Region: Heathcote, VIC
Nero d'Avola in Australia can be confusing, the styles varying considerably as we work out the best spots for it to be planted.
Colbinabbin, or Colbo to the local wine crowd, may be a front runner for Nero d'Avola best in ground. The Minim version is inky, perfumed, flush with liqueur cherries, and spicy dark fruit on the palate. It's all upfront and tangy, with great energy.
The merest amount of sulphur pre-bottling is the only winemaking addition, and it has a brisk, natural feel with wonderful acidity. You should avola load of this in your wine rack.
