Nunc 2017 Pinot Noir (750ml)The Wine Traveller
Style: Pinot Noir
Region: Yarra Valley, VIC
For the '17 Pinot Noir Dave Mac worked with growers from four Yarra Valley vineyards, stretching across the region's myriad of microclimates and soils. Approximately 70% of the fruit was sourced from the red rich soils and cooler climes of the Upper Yarra; the subregions of Gladysdale, Beenak and Woori Yallock have provided lifted cherry and floral aromatics, with elegance and line. The remaining wines - cropped from the ironstone rich, grey soils of Yarra Glen in the lower Yarra - have brought juicy fruit ballast and blue fruits into play. All fruit was handpicked and naturally fermented in open fermenters, with some carbonic ferments; approximately 30% whole bunches made up the final blend. Following pressing, most of the vineyards were blended to go through natural malolactic fermentation and ageing on lees in tank. Approximately 20% of the blend saw some old wood. The result is a super pretty, highly perfumed Pinot, delicate in colour, with lifted aromatics of red cherry, raspberry and rose leading to a palate that is juicy and bright, medium bodied, and with a deliciously spicy close.
