Few wineries enjoy the feverish scramble for their new releases like Tonic Wines. And the fever is well deserved.
They make painfully small batches of wine, and well, in 2020 they couldn't make any Adelaide Hills Chardonnay at all as the vineyard source was sadly destroyed by fire.
So this release of the Tonic Chardonnay is a one-off from the Yarra Valley, sourced from kind people in the Coldstream sub-region.
It's a lighter more elegant version of the Tonic Chardy, tending towards the zing of citrus and grapefruit, and though it spent time on full lees it carries a crash of lean acidity through to the finish.
An excellent, tense, one-off excursion to the Yarra!
